About us

AFANIAS is a common public interest non profit association gathering families of persons with intellectual disabilities, listed in the Registry of Associations and Foundations.

Since 1964 AFANIAS attends persons with intellectual disability and is a pioneer in providing services to this group, with the aim of improving the quality of life of these people and their families.

Among AFANIAS’ specific goals are:

• Creating and promoting centres and services of a pedagogic, scientific, assistance and labour nature aimed at teaching, attending and rehabilitating persons with intellectual disability, or any other activities geared towards improving their quality of life.
• Promoting the tutorship of orphans, the abandoned and persons with severe problems.

 Currently, approximately 1,500 persons with disability are integrated in AFANIAS.

AFANIAS Transversal Services*

AFANAIS Transversal Services portfolio includes all the services provided by the Organisation with the aim of improving the quality of life of the persons with intellectual disability and their families, underlining also the quantity and quality criteria to be taken into account.

These services are based on our values, and they are consistent to our way of understanding intellectual disability. They were foreseen to guarantee the provision of quality services, and adapted to the specific needs of persons with intellectual disability.

AFANIAS ENTREPRENEURIAL SERVICES rely on the work of the Special Employment Centres, which provide the organisation with profitable and satisfactory solutions for all the companies that decide to bring Technology, Quality and Integration in the products and services they trust us with.

Our main value is to meet these professional challenges by promoting the social integration of persons with disabilities in one of the most requested professional environments of our society.

Thanks to its Entrepreneurial Area AFANIAS bases its activity on the principles of quality and personalised treatment to customers, satisfying their needs with maximum fastness and effectiveness. Avant-garde high standards result in full satisfaction of our users, carrying out, at the same time, a necessary task for the society at large and particularly for the target group we work for.

Special Employment Centres

AFANIAS INDUSTRIAS GRÁFICAS

It is a Special Employment Centre (# 12 Autonomous Community of Madrid) where all sorts of products are made in relation to Graphic Arts and Printing (books, visit cards, brochures, receipt books, plotter…) Also, other activities are conducted there such as: a) Handling of paper and cardboard, b) Preparation of promotions and gifts, c) Production of magazines with promotions, Christmas presents, wine boxes, etc d) Handling of electronic components: boxes, cables, section switches, etc. 

AFANIAS JARDISER

It is a Special Employment Centre (# 40 of the Autonomous Community of Madrid) devoted to gardening, cleaning and different service activities.

AFANIAS ALIMENTARIA

This Special Employment Centre works with integral catering for hotels, companies, social service centres, educating centres, events, etc. Our services are mainly designed to offer healthy, balance and natural food for day to day life, adapted to the nutritional needs of each person or group.

The key to our success is offering high quality standards. To do this, we prioritize each service and we offer customised services in order to guaranteeing our customers’ satisfaction.

Labour Integration Company

AFANIAS PARAJES: Promoción e Inserción Laboral

We are devoted to the labour integration of people at risk of exclusion by providing gardening, reforestation, home assistance services, and all those services that this target group is in a position to provide for persons’ integration, whenever possible, into the primary labour market. The main services provided are: a) Gardening and Reforestation Area, b) Plant Production and Greenhouse Area, c) Services to Companies Area.

AFANIAS European Projects

AFANIAS applied and was granted several European Projects that were satisfactorily developed with European partners from countries like Italy, Portugal, Hungary, France, and Austria. Also, AFANIAS has jointed other organisations for European Initiatives work in partnership with them.

Some of the European Commission grants awarded to AFANIAS are listed below:

·         2000: Leonardo da Vinci Programme: Name of Project: Ibis200

·         2000: Hosting partner of Portuguese and Italian beneficiaries in the framework of a Leonardo da Vinci Programme

·         2001-2004: Equal Programme. Name of Project: Parajes de Jarama

·         2005-2007: Equal Programme. Name of Project: ISE Jarama (www.isejarama.org)

·         2006: Hosting partner of Austrian beneficiaries and trainers in the framework of a Leonardo da Vinci Programme.

Currently, AFANIAS is promoting the creation of a European Association to work with persons at risk of social exclusion in cooperation with other Organisations in Europe.
